My students love sharing a good book as much as I love being a storyteller. Much of my teaching is lead by multi-culural picture books. I find these books are often an inspiration to many of my students. They can often relate to characters and settings. More importantly, they can follow the characters as they persevere in adverse situation. Nothing would feel better during these read aloud times than sitting on a soft carpet. It's not easy being dropped into a strange culture and learning the language of a new land. But one thing that can make things easier is being able to sit knee to knee with a new found friend who speaks your language... or at least understands your fears.
