Do you have fond memories of art? Have you saved and cherished a family member's artwork for years? If so, then you know the lasting effect art can have on students. Art is such an important part of a well-rounded education and is highly regarded at my small charter school. The majority of my 300 students are from military families and experience many varieties of stress that civilians do not. Their home life dynamics are constantly changing, a parent is forever leaving and returning months later, and they are always concerned about the next move and the next school. These children need an outlet for these emotions. I provide one such outlet through a varied visual arts program. My students can express themselves, explore their emotions, and work through the challenges they face. Please help me provide them with the best visual arts education that I can.
