I teach in an urban public school in South West Ohio. A majority of the students who attend our school arise from urban, low income families, with multiple children who are often raised by extended family members or foster homes. The students in my classroom are fantastic children with such a thirst for knowledge! They enjoy attending school as they come into a learning environment that is safe and welcoming! The students I work with are all very grateful to be in school. They work hard and they know that education in important to their future. However, with limited funding, we don't always have the resources we would like to provide the hands-on experiences needed to "involve" the students in their own learning! This sometimes results in the students missing out on some of the experiences needed to make the real world connection needed to be successful.
