I teach 8th grade math in a fairly rural yet very historic town. We see over 1 million tourists a year, but our population is less than 4,000. The community is close-knit and always pulls together when there is adversity. For our small size, we are a pretty diverse town. A multitude of opportunities are available here for work, shopping and restaurants. The school is small enough for everyone to know everyone, but it is large enough to offer students choices in their friends & classes. At my school, we focus on respect and responsibility, as we want our students to be good citizens; I must say, they really rise to the occasion in these regards!
