Nonfiction reading is engaging when each student is able to have nonfiction books on their reading level. Students become the "teacher" when they have a book that they can read and discuss with their reading partner. They build confidence as they find text features or facts that build their knowledge. By donating to this project, students will have the opportunity to explore nonfiction on their level and feel successful. My first graders are enthusiastic and love sharing their knowledge. These books will provide each one of them an opportunity to engage in this unit of study with books they can actively engage in.
