My robotics students are an inquisitive and excited group. Our class is the first to be completely devoted to robotics. Watching them learn coding and troubleshooting has been a joy. The best part is watching these middle school children rekindle their innate love of learning. The programming is helping students apply math and science concepts with real world application to make classroom learning come alive. Journaling about their learning process reinforces that writing is an essential skill. Most students at my school are from low income families, and many are at risk of not graduating. Many are unaware of career options outside of our area. While that is not my immediate goal, it is hopefully an eventual outcome. At my school, we pride ourselves on giving students every opportunity to succeed that we possibly can. It has been a source of pride that we are able to do more with less.
