Making Math Meaningful! I am a fourth grade public school math and science teacher in Louisiana. I teach 50 students a day and the majority of these students come from rural low socio-economic households. My students need a lot of hands on learning that links them to real world applications. Lessons such as "quilting" help them to practice measurement while looking at patterns, line symmetry, rotational symmetry, transformations, rotations, and translations. It also helps them with cooperative learning. And where do the quilts go? We donate them to a local veteran's home. Please support my classroom and encourage us to continue to learning this way. Thank you.
