"I'll be anything. Just give me a part." I teach sixth grade English for part of the day and multi-grade drama for the remainder of the day. Our school is the first of its kind in our district. This is our first year as a performing arts magnet school. Our county catered to science schools, advanced curriculum schools, and schools for technology, but ignored the importance of the arts. In an effort to boost our dwindling population and offer students a chance to learn in an "art-rich" environment we applied for magnet school status. This year we were granted that honor with the stipulation that there would not be any extra money in the budget for our special programs. Our students come from all over the district, from every social class and background, all looking for a chance to perform. We offer music programs, dance, cooking, graphic productions, and, for the first time this year, drama.
