Our students are at-risk youth that we are providing a combination of education and wrap-around services to. They are over-aged and under credited youth, seeking an educational experience, receiving a combination of academic, vocational and personal skills necessary to succeed. Through this new project, creating raised vegetable gardens, we are excited to present students with an opportunity for project based learning. All content areas in our school will be able to participate in the creation and ongoing work associated with developing a unique educational experience. Being a vocational and academic institution means our students will not only design the space, they will build the beds, plant and harvest the crops, cook with the crops and eat those crops together as a community! Adding in rainwater harvesting and composting will educate and elevate the knowledge our students have about their environment and self sufficiency .
