We have a high English Language Learner population and have no literature for them to enjoy in their native language. Research shows that scholars who are literate in their native language, Spanish in this case, can grow their literacy skills in their native language which in turn allows them to better comprehend and understand their second language. We are focused on literacy at our school but lack Spanish literature to offer our scholars or leveled readers in English that would allow them to gradually move Spanish to English literature. I would love the opportunity to provide our scholars with these resources.
