My students are an academically diverse group of adolescents from families who value education and make learning a priority. Little time is needed to manage classroom behavior because students are respectful, love to learn and are intrinsically motivated. Students in the classroom enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction and are provided high-quality and engaging young-adult literature through the public school, supportive families, and a community that invests in education. It is truly rewarding to work with my students because they are life-long learners who ask thought-provoking questions that generate meaningful class discussions which naturally foster a dynamic learning environment. The classroom population includes ESL learners, gifted and talented students, and students who struggle with reading comprehension and require reading and writing intervention and support. While the needs of students vary, the critical access to meaningful instruction is provided to all class members.
