My students range in grades from 3rd to 5th grade. Our class is a specialized academic instruction class that utilizes a variety of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavior disabilities. Our classroom is located on a public school site servicing elementary students from preschool to 6th grade. All of the students in my classroom have average to above average intelligence. However, their behaviors are so significant they require a classroom with a high teacher to student ratio, small group instruction, and a positive reinforcement system embedded into their school day. Many of my students are multimodal learners and my staff and I try to incorporate their different styles of learning into our classroom setting/instruction. Many of the students prefer to learn through the use of visual images ( learning material in a pictorial or graphic format) and kinesthetic/active learning (prefer to learn through practical activities).
