Our students live on the West Side of Chicago. They live in a community with high poverty, high crime and low income, which limit the resources we need to provide them with the education they so urgently deserve. However, every morning, students come to school from unimaginable experiences ready to learn. They are all greeted with a smile, a hug and an encouraging word. They love to learn and are filled with energy and excitement. Students enjoy learning new concepts, and get excited when they master a new and challenging skill. The culture of our school is that of a family. For our students, it is a school of aunts, uncles, parents and grandparents. We build positive relationships with our students and parents first and foremost, which is why each student has at least one staff member they can trust. All students have support both personally and academically. That is why this career is so rewarding. We truly make a difference.
