My students can't order books because they don't have the money. I have 2 autistic students and 1 Emotionally Disturbed student and 1 CD. Their levels of learning are wide. I do small groups for reading. I purchased a book for each student for Christmas. They asked me to read it to them because they didn't have anyone at home that would. It was amazing! They were all engaged and excited! They never let a day go by without reading it. Even my students that I can't get to pick up a book had the books in their hands and would try to read ahead.Despite their hardships of abuse and drugs in some homes, they persevere everyday. They come to school and are eager to learn. They are kind, compassionate and understanding of each others differences. They are willing to help each other and me every day. Our school staff is the same way. We truly lead by example.
