Our school houses one of the Extended Resource Special Education Classrooms in our district. I work with 13 special education students K-2nd - from Down's Syndrome to Chromosomal Disorders, to Cognitively Impaired. My students' disabilities make fine motor control difficult and speech disabilities that make communication difficult. A few students need sensory input (compression, brushing, heavy lifting) to focus their bodies to be able complete simple tasks. Many of my students learn best by watching videos, computer games, movement, or songs. They are unable to do "traditional" school work but are still able to learn to read, calculate, and understand many other concepts (science, social studies, social interactions, etc.).
