I have a classroom of 25 students from a low socioeconomic area. They have a wide variety of educational experiences and backgrounds, and abilities. Being first graders they are very excited about hands on activities. We are very busy during our day with reading, writing, and math. Most of the time we do not have time for science. Any of the science experiments we do at this time I fund on my own. I would like to focus our lessons on science and let the reading and writing tie into lessons that excite the children. Our school funding has been cut in the past years so we have been able to do less and less of the hands on learning.These science kits will be a quick and easy way to put science into our day. The kits may also be used in centers.
