I teach in an urban school, in a poverty stricken environment. Students often lack the early literacy experiences and enter school not quite on target. However, they are so excited and eager to absorb all they can in the classroom space. I have created a Dr. Seuss theme in my classroom to make it a space they will like and feel excited to come to. I have provided poems and quotes from Dr. Seuss around the room that the children love to look at try to read. I have a set of some Dr. Seuss titles but the more I see them loving the theme and going for those books, I really want to provided them with as many pieces of this literature as I possibly can!!
