I currently have 30 fourth and fifth grade students with reading abilities that range from 1st to 6th grade in a school that has a transiency rate of about 20%.In addition to my regular class I have 5 students that are assigned to my class for specific instructional support. The population is 75% Hispanic and 25% African American. These students are eager to learn about the world around them but have limited resources. Community resources are minimal, compounded by high crime. Our school is considered a safe environment. The students enjoy school and the staff works to provide students with a variety of learning experiences including student council, drill team and drum teams.
