Typically, the beginning of the year is full of hands-on activities that support our efforts to educate the whole children, This year, like many other kindergartners, our students will begin their first days of school from their homes, engaging in learning throught the use of their computers. Our kindergarten teachers know that it is important for these youngest learners to be engaged in activities away from the screen. We plan to send each kindergartner home with one set of watercolors and a small magnifier. The watercolors will be used to teach elements of art, develop fine motor skills and support science writing and drawing. An important part of our language arts program is science writing. We begin our year teaching children to write by harnessing their love of nature. The kindergartners will write about observations they make in their natural environment. The small magnifiers will be used to help students focus their writing and scientific drawings or paintings. Thank you for supporting our entire schools kindergarten team!
