The research is eminent: children become readers by reading. Our school's mission is to create a "thriving literacy community"; to create a culture of love and respect for literature. By providing our students with authentic literature, they can begin to explore different genres and preferences, practice the skills we are teaching them in order to become good readers, and find enjoyment in reading books. The books will be available to students in our easily-accessible library, which will be arranged in bins based on reading level, as well as genre and topic. Students will have opportunities to select books from our library and store them in their seat sacks, which can be read in the morning, while waiting for classmates to finish work, or at anytime they can make choices in our classroom! The books are entirely for student use. Please help me to create strong readers, writers, and learners by donating to my project!
