I work in a very diverse school in Virginia. We are a Title I school in which over 40% of the students receive free/reduced price lunch. Many of my students speak English as a second language, have special education needs, and have varying levels of support at home. While my primary focus in the building is the highly able/gifted population, I provide advanced level instruction and differentiation strategies to all of our teachers and students by going into classrooms for units/lessons and working in small groups. I try very hard to get into the classrooms and work with as many children as possible, but in a building of 600+ students, there is just not enough of me to go around.
