We are the 1st graders of Laurelhurst School in Portland and we need books! Did you know that if we use the core curriculum provided for us, we would only have 1 individualized book to read in our small group every week? Each small group of students needs 3-4 books each week, not 1! We truly appreciate all of the books donated to our classroom libraries during the Book Fair, but we are in need of sets of books for targeted instruction. Each 1st grade class has 6 small reading groups needing multiple copies of the same text. Our Laurelhurst Leveled Book Room is nearly empty, but with your donation we can fill our Book Room (and our hearts + minds) up! Not only will you be helping to grow our 1st grade reading resources, you will be helping grow an excited reader as they engage high quality "just right" books. On behalf of our teachers, Ms. Laney, Ms. Denison and Ms. Lepley, we thank you so much, from cover to cover.
