My students face a variety of obstacles, from living in poverty to learning to communicate in English, to being the babysitter of several siblings, to simply trying to make it through the social maze of middle school! The resiliency and perseverance of my students is motivating. Their zest for life is infectious. Middle school students can be challenging, but are also so inspiring! Teaching drama gives me the opportunity to see students find their sense of self, and of community.
