I am requesting sensory boards to create a sensory hallway for our students. A sensory hallway will provide our students with opportunities to take a "break". This break will help them regulate their bodies so when they return to the classroom, they are calm, quiet and soothed placing them in an optimal state to be ready to learn. Students with autism spectrum disorder often have sensory processing issues and it is imperative that we provide support to help them regulate. A sensory hallway will provide a much needed respite from the challenges that are presented to them during a busy day of leaning. These sensory boards are the first step in creating our sensory hallway.
