My students are primarily white and very poor. They are hungry for technology-based lessons because that is the world that they have grown up in. They depend on the school to provide these opportunities. But, the sad thing is most schools can't afford to do so efficiently. Our town recently was destroyed by a high F 4 tornado, so the money that we have is being spent on buildings that received damage. Also, our town has no industry, thus no taxes from the businesses. We have a wonderful school and community. The students are exceptional in their intelligence and their desire to learn. I have been teaching for 34 years and have seen many changes. I hope before I retire that I will be able to give my students what is really necessary for a quality education and prepare them for college.
