We are one of the highest poverty Title I schools in our school district. We currently have 66% free and reduced school lunch. We have 23% Hispanic population and English as a Second Language Learners. Our students live in a rural area and many have fewer than 25 books to read in their household. Research shows that a small number of books is an indicator of reading motivation and low self-esteem. Approximately half of our student population is reading below grade level.
