Help provide my students with a multi-sensory approach to literacy. My students love to use manipulatives during instruction. Manipulatives make learning to read feel like a game. This project will help build advanced phonemic awareness, a skill with which many early readers struggle. We have been using letter cards to build words. Students can become frustrated with organizing and keeping up with the pieces. Magnetic letters will help my learners stay organized and focused when learning new sounds and letter patterns. The letters and patterns are color-coded and will help students who struggle with decoding to chunk words into their smaller parts. Additional manipulatives will make breaking words into syllables and sounds tangible.
