Knowing that increased involvement and engagement impact how much students learn and retain, it is of utmost importance to me to put into place higher quality practices that will benefit all of my students. To do this, I am implementing new practices utilizing technology which improve student engagement and have a positive impact on student learning and understanding. In order to maximize this, I am seeking to purchase and implement a classroom set of touchscreen Chromebooks into my classroom. Currently, we share 1 set of Chromebooks between 3 different grade levels, 8 different courses, and 17 different sections of math. When we have the opportunity to use the set we have, my kids engage in learning in a much different way. Using technology, my students are more excited and enthusiastic about learning, they collaborate with peers more productively, and their performance increases. By changing the way we engage with mathematics in class, I can create an environment where mathematical learning is the destination, but technology is the mode of transportation. Chromebooks enhance critical thinking and problem-solving​ skill during math instruction. Utilizing technology also increases the likelihood that students will complete assignments. By integrating technology and non-tech teaching tools during class, I can increase student engagement to maximize learning.
