Our school is filled with a diverse population of students. The students that we work with are 6th grade language learners. 100 percent of our students come from households where English is not the fist language. Our classes are divided into three sections in which one section of students has limited to no English, while the others are familiar with the English language, but has yet to master it to its fullest. Many of our students are embarking on, not only their first year in middle school, but also their first year in the United States. In our classroom we focus not only on the importance of embracing language, but also on the making this transition a positive one. We also have an emphasis on accepting and learning about each other's cultures and heritages. Our classroom is filled with items that represent the power of learning, as well as the power of diversity!
