Teaching is all about building relationships with students and helping students see themselves as learners capable of growing and overcoming any environmental and educational obstacle. As high school teachers we are the last educators to support students in the big transition from school to college and careers. Supporting students is critical at this time. With the needs of safe social distancing and mask wearing, it is more challenging than ever for students to feel connected to their teachers. When students return to school in person they will not be able to see their teachers' faces. Creating selfie buttons for each staff member to wear will let students see the person behind the mask and help students feel more connected to their support system at school. Having a button maker for students to use in the library as part of our new maker studio will also allow support learning and allow students and faculty to do creative projects in the future.
