These books will allow me to teach novels to large groups of students and experience stories together in book groups. Currently, I only have 1-2 copies of most grade level novels, and more than half of my students receive free/reduced lunch and are unable to purchase books throughout the school year. Graphic novel sets are of high interest to my students and give struggling readers and english language learners confidence in their reading. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. An updated globe in my classroom will be effective in teaching my students to understand our world. They will be able to see the earth in an accurate way rather than a flat internet image. The globe I currently have is outdated and still shows the U.S.S.R. New bulletin board paper will be extremely helpful in the functionality of my classrom and learning environment. The paper on my list is long lasting and reusable. Students and I will be able to use and reuse it as a dry erase board. It can easily be moved and will support our learning immensely. The eraser desk pets on my list would be given to students as rewards and to motivate their learning! I would like my students to grow as readers and learners this school year, and this project will help enrich their fourth grade experience.
