I teach 24 first grade students.They come from various backgrounds, but one thing they have in common is they come from high poverty homes. Some of my student have a hard time leaving at the end of the day because they would rather be in school than go home. My students sometimes have a hard time sitting on the carpet, or staying in a spot for too long. However, they do like knowing they have their own personal things. They like knowing that at school they have something that belong to them. They have their own desks, and books, but not a carpet together with a personal spot. Since we do so much at the carpet, students need a special spot to come, listen, and learn. This carpet will help my students to feel welcome and part of our classroom.
