Our school is a Title 1 school in Brooklyn, New York. We have a diverse population of children from many different countries and cultures which makes us a vibrant school community. Unfortunately, many of our students come from homes where good eating and healthy practices are non-existent. It is well known that students with behavior issues respond to exercise and teamwork. I plan to organize school basketball and soccer teams for our 5th grades. The plan is to roll these programs out and down over the next three years. To get going, however, we need equipment now. Recognizing that health education must start at our school, we have put in place time-sensitive physical education initiatives to help get our students moving and grooving!
