My students study at a public Spanish Immersion School where our enrollment is over 500. Children come from both inside and outside the district, including inner city Minneapolis. They are drawn to the school not only by the Spanish language, but by the musical instruction that is offered as par of their curriculum. Our students are from all socio-economic backgrounds. Students in grades K-5 enjoy having music twice a week. Not only do they learn about the elements of music through singing and playing, but they learn proper vocal production through voice exploration, tone matching, singing in unison, rounds and harmony. They begin to sing beautifully starting in Kindergarten by listening, observing and practicing. We sing songs in Spanish, English, French, German and various African dialects.
