My students are more than 99% African-American, and most of them have grown up in Washington, DC and come from low-income households. They are typically kinesthetic learners and really enjoy activities in class that involve active physical and mental participation. The literacy level in the school is low, and so it is imperative that they all receive individualized instruction on grammar and spelling.
