When beauty is absent from a life than how much of that life is really lived? My students come from an area of high-poverty, high crime, high danger. Everyday life can be one in which life is void of all that is beautiful. I would like to provide my students with access to two books that, not only are grade appropriate and standards based, but also speak to perseverance and trusting in yourself. These two books also tell a fabulous story that is inspirational and intriguing.
