My students need a wide variety of leveled readers to support their sustained silent reading time. As an all subjects classroom teacher, I teach a wide variety of reading skills. I stress the importance of "joy reading" to my students, the act of reading because one enjoys their book and not because they're being forced to by the curriculum, but my student often don't have the funds for books or the time to go out and buy them. With these books, my students will have a library at their fingertips used solely in my classroom by my students. I want every student in my classroom to graduate ready for college and career. Reading is an important key to accomplishing this goal. With leveled books readily available, my students will be eager to read and learn.
