After graduating from Notre Dame in 2010, I moved to Tucson, Arizona to complete a two-year service through teaching program where I taught in three, under-resourced Catholic schools while getting my Masters degree in Education simultaneously. I then stayed in Arizona for an extra year to help two other schools improve their literacy instruction as a consultant. Teaching in Arizona changed my life; I fell in love with the profession, and the service aspect of empowering children that have nothing, (sometimes not even citizenship) to know that with an education, they can do anything. I want to do the same thing for students in Boston, but find myself challenged by the lack of resources and funding available. Their education doesn't deserve to be hindered due to the city's lack of money. I will do ANYTHING I can (including asking you!) to create the most dynamic and engaging learning environment possible.
