My students live in a high-poverty urban area in NYC. My school is designed to fit the needs of students in foster care and/or the child welfare system. My classroom is an integrated 3rd grade classroom with regular education students and students with disabilities. Several of my students are below grade level in both math and reading and need high levels of rigor and practice in order to meet grade level Common Core standards. Our school is using technology to differentiate for students' various needs and learning styles. This technology has helped students succeed in areas of math and reading on last year's state exams. Our students love using the ChromeBooks inside the classroom. The use of technology also teaches them responsibility and time management.
