My students are in the 8th grade and have learning disabilities. Most of my students struggle with reading and are at least 3 grade levels behind. My students live in an urban area and their families struggle financially. Many do not know their address because they move so often. I have mostly non white male students. Only two of 12 students live in a two parent household. Grandparents and Aunts are the common guardians. Having so many young men who struggle academically, behavior is a challenge. Incentives enable me to manage behaviors and class work completion. These are good kids who need patience and a break.
