Our school is located in a high mountain valley surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is rural, but tourists have discovered us, so we attract a lot of outdoor enthusiasts. Our community is diverse and so is our student population. We have many students from farms and ranches, a large Hispanic population and many families who have moved here recently just because they like it here. We are an upper elementary school with all of the 4th and 5th graders from the valley. Our schools are not well funded by the state, but our local citizens have helped support some local school levies. Overall, I feel quite fortunate to teach here, but we are lacking in many basic things. We do not have classroom computers and our computer lab is antiquated, slow, unreliable and frequently unavailable.
