Our school is committed to helping each child to be a successful citizen in our society. It has the label of Title One with the U.S. Department of Education but in the eyes of its inhabitants we truly believe that it is our home away from home. My second graders are more than enthusiastic about learning. The energy they exude each day drives me to challenge them to reach beyond the limited expectations that others may have of them. The transformation of a caterpillar describes the degree to which my students develop. The quote, "How does one become a butterfly? she asked. You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar" applies to my classroom. Each student is willing to work to demonstrate his or her true potential. They soon realize that there is greatness within them waiting to be discovered.
