My students are hardworking and kind. I am proud of their writing, as they are encouraged to write for a variety of audiences and purposes and do so. Many find success publishing their work. However, not all of my students read outside of school. My goal is to hook them all on reading, and my Donors Choose projects center around my desire to build a stronger reading environment. As Grace Lin states, books should be mirrors and windows for the reader. And, I want to build a wonderful and welcoming space in class for my students. I would like soft seating, a book shelf full of books that are suited for all 100+ of my students. A classroom library where they can lose themselves in a good book and develop a love of reading.
