I teach at a rural school with a small population and a relatively high level of students with financial need. Like a lot of small schools we are always facing the dreaded budget cuts and/or freezes. As a small school we have advantages over large schools, but often have to do with less. My goal is to level the playing field and find opportunities for our students to compete with more affluent districts, by incorporating high quality texts into the everyday curriculum and finding innovative ways to connect to students.
