My little scientists will be investigating these hands-on STEM materials and resources daily during their reading and math workshops. They will strengthen their problem solving skills as they collaborate with their peers to design and engineer bridges, chairs, and houses from well known fairy tales. The Bee-Bot Programmable Robot will expose the students to programming for the first time, along with reinforcing directional skills. Scientific inquiry, which is embedded in our state standards, will be emphasized as they investigate different types of engineering career options and try to persevere with hands-on engineering challenges. The storage cubbies will allow the students to have the responsibility to use the STEM stations during center time, and then put it back in the correct location without teacher assistance. Organization of the materials will let students jump right into the center without wasting valuable learning time looking for materials or directions to use the station efficiently. Everything the students will need, will be in a labeled cubby. By helping to fund this project, you will help young children use their natural curiosity to discover all the engaging ways that science, math, engineering, and technology are in all parts of their lives.
