My AP students are a determined group of kids. From day one of class, their faces froze in fear as I handed them 4 assignments that were due with the next class meeting. These students were the ones who came in the next class with their work done. The essays were wrong, but at least, they tried. Many times as we work, I sit and watch their faces and see doubt and even fatigue and the year just started! Yet, they come in everyday with determination and a will to do their best. They try. They ask questions. They make mistakes. I want to create a flipped classroom for my students. In a flipped classroom, I would take the major instruction time and record it for the students to watch at home. While in class, we will practice and work on what was already covered in the video. This can help with students who may not get it the first time, they can watch the video as much as needed. If students are absent, they can watch the video in class and catch up. A flipped class helps me to work at the pace of the individual students instead of them trying to catch up to me.
