I am a Pre-K teacher in a high poverty area in NYC. The majority of my students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. A huge percentage of my students are also English Language Learners. They come from many different socio-economic backgrounds. School is a brand new concept for most of my students. School is such a happy place for them. They love to be social and come to school super excited to get the day started. They love playing and learning together. For most of them school is definitely the best part of their day. All of my students are very curious, inquisitive and extremely eager to learn. They are hard workers and want to succeed in life. My wonderful students look up to me every single day to help them and the growth that they make from year to year is truly rewarding. As their teacher, I want to ensure that I do everything I can to help my students be successful both in my classroom and in life.
