The socioeconomic level at my school is 100% free breakfast, snack, and lunch. No money changes hands at my school. With that in mind, we cannot ask for school supplies from the families and most children do not even come to school with pencils. And, who doesn't love getting new school supplies? Our school is one of the few places where these children have an opportunity. We strive to help each child achieve his or her full potential but that can be difficult without needed supplies. This becomes quite a large personal expense for every teacher every year.
