Resurgence Hall's mission is to educate every scholar for success in high school, college and life. When you walk into our building, you can feel the structured, joyful learning environment we have created for our scholars. As the Innovation Coordinator, I teach computer science and design thinking for 6th grade as well as innovation for kindergarten. 6th graders are developing their knowledge of computer hardware, coding, and sharpening their critical thinking and typing skills. Design Thinking is not a course that is offered in many schools; this class develops scholars' creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration; three skills that are essential in many career areas. Living in the Metro Atlanta area where 6% of schools offer computer science, in a world that finds people of color significantly underrepresented in STEM careers, my scholars are on a trajectory toward success in high school, college and life.
