Our school has a very high poverty rate. We have universal free breakfast and lunch. Despite this, we work hard everyday. I teach a diverse classroom with diverse needs, but we come together through our reading experiences. They bind us and bring out something new in ourselves. My students have grown academically in profound ways. They have earned every success, and while they have much yet to achieve, they can and will do it.
